The new LT4 makes over 625 HP and 635 lb-ft, it'll do just fine in the lighter CTS-V...

No, if you want a car thats an overpriced unreliable piece of shit built out of the parts stolen off other customers cars, you call Hennessey.
If you want a car that actually works, go call Lingenfelter or Callaway or someone else who has been tuning GM vehicles for years, and didn't just jump ship after the community involved in what they based their business off of chased them out of the community for being a ripoff and general drunken piece of shit.

... then no car can be special, since every car must first exist as a product of the designer's imagination. Every car that ever was and will be is 'borne out of nothing'.
I am also hoping you will see the irony in criticising 'frail minded oneupmanship', since there's no reason at all beyond that to give the Anniversary M5 more power over the base car. One could argue that the culture of badge snobbery and luxury premiums subsists almost exclusively off 'frail minded oneupmanship'.

Oh yea, the Anniversary M5 is a cheap trick too... matte paint and a 1/3 turn of the wastegate screw. It's all corny. Factory rated HP is meaningless in this turbo era and too much has been given up in the pursuit of more HP that can't be used on the street

While this sounds really cool - I'm unsure about the state of the HP wars. To a point, you start really adding weight and decreasing drive-ability, especially around corners, with super high HP engines. I'd love to see a bit of a HP bump but with a more track focused suspension, some weight reduction, etc.
A 900HP CTS would really only be a straight line thing at that point.
